NEW Head Golf Professional at The National Golf Club of Louisiana

The National Golf Club of Louisiana welcomes Joey Wancewicz (last name pronounced “Juan Savage”).  NGCLA’s new head Golf Professional will be joining the staff on February 18th.  Joey comes to us with experience at two of the best Golf Courses in the state of Louisiana.

Joey grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana. He graduated from Alexandria Senior High School in 2002, where he played on the golf team. He went on to attend Louisiana State University at Alexandria before deciding to enter the PGA’s Professional Golf Management Program. He began his career as a Golf Professional working at Links on the Bayou in Alexandria. It was during his time there that the Links on the Bayou was recognized as the #1 municipal golf course in the state of Louisiana by Golf Digest.

In 2009, Joey relocated to Lafayette, Louisiana to become Assistant Golf Professional at Oakbourne Country Club. During his time at Oakbourne Country Club he was elected to Class A PGA Membership in 2013. In 2017, Joey was nominated for the Louisiana PGA Chapter Assistant of the Year. Also, in 2018, he was nominated for the Gulf States Section PGA Assistant Professional of the Year. Joey has a long history of enthusiastic Junior Golf Coaching that has resulted positive results for local students. A team he coached was two-time Acadiana Junior High Golf League Champions. He has a strong background in tournament operations including, corporate events, state amateur events, and NCAA events. Joey specializes in custom club repair, fittings, and lessons.  His lesson programs feature the use of Flightscope technology. Joey has a passion for the game of golf that he enjoys sharing with others.

Joey and his wife Amanda have 2 children, Presley and Easton. When he is away from the golf course, he enjoys spending time with his family. He is an avid bowler, and enjoys competing in PGA section events. Anyone who knows him can vouch, that he wears purple and gold on Saturdays in the fall.
